Janhvi Kapoor Slams Supreme Court Order on Street Dogs: “They Are the Heartbeat of Our Streets!”

In a bold move that has taken social media by storm, Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of legendary actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, has openly criticized the Supreme Court’s recent order regarding street dogs in Delhi and surrounding areas.

Supreme Court’s Controversial Order

Yesterday, the Supreme Court issued a directive to remove all street dogs from Delhi and NCR and confine them to shelters within eight weeks. The order, aimed at addressing the rising incidents of dog bites, has sparked outrage among animal lovers and activists across the country.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Emotional Response

Janhvi Kapoor did not hold back her feelings. In a passionate Instagram story, she lashed out at the Supreme Court, writing:

“They call it a threat. We call it a heartbeat.
Today, the Supreme Court says remove every stray dog from the streets of Delhi NCR and lock them up. No sunlight, no freedom, no familiar faces they greet every morning. But these are not just stray dogs. They are the ones waiting outside your tea shop for a biscuit, silently guarding shopkeepers at night.
Yes, there are problems with dog bites and safety concerns. But caging an entire community is not a solution. It’s erasure.”

Janhvi went on to suggest real solutions: large-scale sterilization programs, regular vaccination drives, community feeding zones, and adoption campaigns.

Her post has gone viral, shared by thousands. Other celebrities like Raveena Tandon and Varun Dhawan have also voiced their opposition to the Supreme Court’s decision.

A Divided City

Delhi has seen a surge in dog bite incidents, but many argue that simply removing street dogs is neither humane nor effective. Critics warn that sending these dogs to overcrowded shelters could result in starvation and fights, leading to the death of many animals.

As Janhvi poignantly noted, “If these dogs are sent to shelters, more than half will die of hunger, and the rest will fight and perish. Maybe the authorities will find peace in this, and Delhi will become New York City without dogs.”

Public Reaction

The debate has ignited passionate responses from citizens, animal welfare groups, and Bollywood stars alike. Social media is buzzing with support for Janhvi’s stance and calls for more compassionate, sustainable solutions.
