🕯️ Shocking Crime: The Death of Raja Raghuvanshi on His Honeymoon

1. A Short-Lived Marriage

On May 11, 2025, Raja Raghuvanshi (29), a successful businessman from Indore, married Sonam Raghuvanshi (25) in a grand, joyful ceremony. Just nine days later, the newlyweds set off on their honeymoon to the scenic hills of Meghalaya. But the dream trip turned into a nightmare — Raja went missing under mysterious circumstances, and his body was later found near the Wei Sawdong waterfall.

2. Suspicious Strangers

The couple was last seen together on May 23 in Nongriat, accompanied by three unidentified men speaking Hindi. Their rented scooter was later found abandoned on a remote mountain road. Both Raja and Sonam’s phones went offline at the same time — a detail that deeply worried Raja’s family.

3. A Gruesome Discovery

On June 2, Raja’s decomposed body was found deep in a gorge near Wei Sawdong falls. Forensic reports revealed he had suffered multiple deep head injuries caused by a sharp weapon. A machete-like weapon was discovered nearby and confirmed to be the murder weapon.

4. The Stunning Twist: The Wife as Prime Suspect

A special investigation team was formed. With the help of CCTV footage, call logs, witness interviews, and GPS tracking, police uncovered shocking evidence: Sonam had been in constant contact with her ex-lover, Raj Singh Kushwaha. The two are suspected of plotting Raja’s murder so they could be together.

Investigators believe Sonam lured Raja to a remote location under the guise of sightseeing. Meanwhile, Raj hired three contract killers — Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi — who ambushed and killed Raja during the honeymoon.

5. A Desperate Escape

After the murder, Sonam fled Meghalaya and drove nearly 1,200 km to Uttar Pradesh, covering her face with a scarf and avoiding stops. But her behavior aroused suspicion. A local food vendor in Ghazipur recognized her and tipped off a relative, which led to her arrest on June 6. At the same time, Raj and the three hired killers were also captured in coordinated police raids.

6. Public Outrage

The case, dubbed the “honeymoon murder,” has sparked national outrage. A newlywed husband betrayed and murdered by the woman he had just married — it’s a chilling reminder of how dark human motives can be. The Meghalaya police have been praised for solving the case swiftly and decisively.
