Nadiya Ke Paar Actor Inder Thakur Died In Plane Crashes With His Family

The classic film Nadiya Ke Paar holds a special place in the hearts of millions, evoking nostalgia for village life and cherished memories. However, the story behind one of its beloved actors, Inder Thakur, is one of heartbreaking tragedy.

Inder Thakur, who played the memorable role of Omkar—the elder brother of Sachin’s character—captured audiences with his simplicity and warmth. His portrayal set a benchmark for how an elder brother should be, leaving an indelible mark on Indian cinema. But few know that Inder Thakur’s life was cut short in a devastating incident that claimed his entire family.

Beyond acting, Inder was also a fashion designer, model, and had worked as a cabin manager for Air India. He was married to Priya, an Air India air hostess, and the couple had a child together.

On June 23, 1985, tragedy struck when Inder, along with his wife and child, boarded Air India Flight 182 from Toronto to London. The flight, carrying 329 people—most of them Canadian citizens—was destroyed by a terrorist bomb explosion just 45 minutes before it was scheduled to land. The blast killed all 307 passengers and 22 crew members on board, including Inder and his family. The plane was flying over the Atlantic Ocean at the time, and only 132 bodies were ever recovered from the sea.

Inder Thakur had received widespread acclaim for his role as Omkar in Nadiya Ke Paar just three years before his untimely death. He went on to appear in films like Chatpati, Hero (released the same year), and Tulsi (1985), earning praise for his performances.

The Air India Flight 182 bombing remains the deadliest terrorist attack in Canadian history and sent shockwaves through Bollywood and the nation. Inder Thakur’s tragic demise, along with his family, is a somber reminder of the fragility of life and the far-reaching impact of terrorism.
