Is Shillong Police Withholding the Truth? Family of Raja Raghuvanshi Raises Explosive Questions

In a case that has gripped the nation with both horror and heartbreak, the tragic death of Raja Raghuvanshi has now spiraled into allegations of police mishandling, destroyed evidence, and unanswered questions. What started as a mysterious disappearance during a honeymoon trip has now turned into a full-blown investigation shrouded in doubt and fueled by a family’s grief and frustration.

From Missing to Murdered: The Shocking Chain of Events

Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam, were reported missing shortly after traveling to Shillong, Meghalaya. In the beginning, authorities and media coverage speculated about the couple’s possible elopement or an accident. However, the situation took a dark turn when Raja’s lifeless body was discovered in a remote location under suspicious circumstances.

Despite Sonam and Raja being legally married, questions about their relationship and intentions began to emerge once the investigation began. Authorities arrested Sonam and multiple other suspects, alleging that Raja was murdered as part of a premeditated conspiracy. The crime scene lacked key evidence, sparking fears of tampering or destruction.

Public Backlash and Police Scrutiny

Initially, public sentiment appeared sympathetic towards both families. However, attention soon shifted to the Shillong Police. Critics claimed the local law enforcement had been slow, uncoordinated, and even fearful of handling the suspects properly. Raja’s family, especially his elder brother Sachin Raghuvanshi, has now emerged as a vocal critic of the investigation process.

Sachin has repeatedly accused Shillong Police of failing to secure enough remand time for the key suspects—particularly Sonam and her alleged partner, Raj Kushwaha. According to him, the suspects have not revealed their true motive, nor have investigators been able to extract critical confessions despite having several opportunities.

“They couldn’t even extend the remand for eight more days. The suspects haven’t disclosed the real reason why my brother was murdered. What was their objective?” – Sachin Raghuvanshi

Narco Tests and CBI Demands

One of the most pressing demands from Raja’s family is the conduction of narco-analysis (lie detector and truth serum) tests on all suspects, especially Sonam and her family members, including her mother. Sachin Raghuvanshi has gone on record saying he feels like a “beggar,” repeatedly requesting the tests but receiving no clear answers from the authorities.

He has also warned that if the police fail to pursue the matter objectively, the family will approach the High Court or even the Supreme Court for a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) inquiry.

“If narco tests aren’t approved, I will knock on every door – High Court, Supreme Court – until we get justice,” he stated emotionally.

Sachin has implied that the murder may have had motives deeper than personal conflict or relationship drama. He suspects that Raja’s death could be tied to more organized planning, potentially involving black magic or occult influences, based on certain elements found at the crime scene.

Who Are the Additional Accused?

Following the arrest of the initial suspects, the Shillong Police later detained two more individuals who allegedly helped cover up the crime:

Silom James – A property broker who provided a flat to Sonam while she was in hiding.

Lokendra Tomar – A contractor who is accused of attempting to destroy evidence, including burning a black bag that contained a pistol, jewelry, clothing, and a large sum of money.

Police recovered chat and call records in which Lokendra pressured Silom to eliminate all incriminating items. Additionally, CCTV footage from a car showroom was reportedly deleted, possibly on Lokendra’s instructions. Fortunately, digital forensics teams were able to partially retrieve the data, although some critical physical evidence was already reduced to ashes.

A Missing Motive, A Lingering Mystery

Despite multiple arrests, formal charges, and court appearances, the central motive behind Raja’s murder remains vague. Why would Sonam, who could have left with Raj at any point, instead choose to orchestrate her husband’s murder?

Sachin voiced this conundrum powerfully:

“If Raj wanted to be with Sonam, they could’ve eloped earlier. Why plan a murder? What did they gain? It doesn’t make sense. Did killing my brother bring them peace?”

He added that it almost appears as though the marriage itself was a trap, a setup designed with the ultimate goal of murder. This has fueled speculation that Sonam and her accomplices never intended to live a married life with Raja.

Public Sympathy Shifting Again

Earlier, when Sonam’s family issued public apologies and appeared to cooperate with investigators, public opinion leaned slightly in their favor. Now, with Sachin’s repeated media appearances and his determined campaign for justice, sympathy is shifting back to the Raghuvanshi family.

What began as a tragic incident is now a battle for justice, transparency, and truth. As more disturbing details surface, the public is left to wonder: Is there more to this case than meets the eye?

A Tale of Two Investigations

Initially, the police received praise for swiftly arresting suspects and locating Raja’s body. But as the investigation advanced, glaring issues began to appear:

Delayed remand applications

Missing evidence

No clear motive revealed

Incomplete forensic recovery

Avoidance of narco tests

Each point has added pressure on the Shillong Police to hand the case over to national investigators.

Sachin has made it clear: unless the investigation moves forward with full transparency and rigorous questioning under narco-analysis, he and his family will escalate the matter beyond Meghalaya.

Conclusion: Justice Delayed or Denied?

In a country where trust in local police often wavers, the Raja Raghuvanshi case represents a painful test. At stake is not just justice for a murdered young man, but the integrity of an entire investigative system.

Will the truth ever come out?

Or will the truth, like the evidence in Raja’s black bag, be consumed by the fire?
