Human Skeleton Found in Locked Hyderabad House Triggers Investigation
Hyderabad, India – A haunting discovery has come to light in Hyderabad, where police recovered a human skeleton from a house that had reportedly been locked and abandoned for five years. The deceased has been identified as Amir Khan, estimated to be between 55 and 60 years old at the time of death.
Discovery by Chance The revelation occurred on Monday, July 15. According to police reports from Habib Nagar police station, a child lost his ball inside the locked house while playing nearby. When the child entered to retrieve his ball, he was met with a strong foul odor emanating from within. Alarmed, he alerted neighbors, who in turn informed the local police.
A police team arrived at the scene around noon and unlocked the house, only to find a human skeleton lying on the floor near a refrigerator. Video footage from the site also showed old chairs and utensils scattered nearby, all covered in thick dust—suggesting the house had been untouched for years.
Clues at the Scene Among the items discovered was an old Nokia mobile phone, near the skeleton. Criminal investigators found 84 missed calls registered on the device, all dating back to 2015. Additionally, a demonetized currency note—now obsolete and no longer accepted as legal tender—was found at the scene.
Victim’s Identity and Police Investigation Further investigation revealed the deceased to be Amir Khan, whose brother confirmed that he had never married and lived alone. Police suspect that Amir led a solitary life and that this may have contributed to his death going unnoticed for such a prolonged period.
Due to the advanced decomposition of the remains, even slight contact with the skeleton caused it to crumble, highlighting just how much time had passed since his death. Forensic experts have since sent the remains for further examination to determine the cause and time of death.
Speaking about the ongoing inquiry, Asif Nagar ACP B. Kishan Kumar confirmed, “The house had been locked for several years, and the recovered items, including the cellphone and demonetised currency, are now part of forensic analysis.”
For now, the mystery remains: Who were the people calling Amir Khan in 2015? What led to his tragic and lonely demise inside his own home?
The case has raised several questions about social isolation and the importance of community vigilance. Police assure that updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
