Legendary Feud Exposed: Mohammad Rafi’s Son Accuses Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle of Ruining His Father’s Career

In a stunning revelation that has sent shockwaves through the film industry, Shahid Rafi, son of legendary singer Mohammad Rafi, has accused iconic sisters Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle of sabotaging his father’s career. Shahid’s explosive claims have reignited old controversies and sparked heated debates among music lovers and Bollywood insiders.

During an interview with Vicky Lalwani, Shahid Rafi alleged that both Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle were jealous of his father’s success and deliberately worked to harm his career. “Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar should be ashamed. They were envious of my father and did everything to ruin his career,” Shahid stated.

He further claimed that when Mohammad Rafi was set to be recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records for singing the most songs, Lata Mangeshkar tried to interfere and prevent the honor. Shahid also revealed that Asha Bhosle once criticized his father’s vocal range, saying, “Mohammad Rafi doesn’t have enough range in his voice.” Shahid responded sharply to this, saying, “You are old now. Talk about yourself. I have no hesitation in saying this to her face, and I told Lata Ji before she passed away.”

According to Shahid, Lata Mangeshkar admitted that Rafi’s career was on the decline and apologized to him. However, Shahid insists his father never accepted such an apology. He recalled that two people approached his father, asking him to forgive Lata Ji, and eventually, on the insistence of actress Nargis and music director Jaikishan, Mohammad Rafi forgave Lata Mangeshkar. After patching up, the two legends even performed together at a show.

Mohammad Rafi passed away in 1980 due to complications from diabetes and heart problems. He was honored with the Padma Shri in 1967. Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away on February 6, 2022, remains one of India’s most revered singers.
