Delhi Government Steps Up: ₹5 Crore Aid Announced for Punjab Flood Victims Amidst Unprecedented Crisis

Article:

Punjab is reeling under one of the worst floods in decades, with nature’s fury leaving the state devastated. Over 23 districts have been submerged, affecting more than 400,000 people and claiming at least 43 lives. With homes inundated, residents are facing an acute shortage of food and drinking water, and the entire state is in distress.

In this hour of need, help is pouring in from across the country. The latest major support comes from the Delhi government, which has opened its treasury for Punjab’s flood victims. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta personally announced a relief package of ₹5 crore for the Punjab CM Relief Fund, expressing deep sympathy for the suffering of Punjab’s residents.

“We stand in solidarity with our neighbors in Punjab during these difficult times,” Gupta stated. “May God grant relief to all those affected and help them recover from this calamity. Delhi is ready to provide any additional assistance required by Punjab. We want every citizen to feel relief and return to their daily lives as soon as possible.”

Gupta emphasized the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”—the world is one family—highlighting the close bond between the neighboring states. “Delhi stands shoulder to shoulder with Punjab,” she said, adding that she had spoken directly with Punjab’s Chief Minister to offer further help if needed.

The recent heavy rainfall has worsened the flood situation, making recovery even more challenging for Punjab’s residents. As rescue and relief operations continue, the Delhi government’s aid brings much-needed hope and support.
