Raja’s Sister Is Also Involved with Sonam — Shocking Revelation in the Raja Raghuwanshi Case!

In a case that has gripped India and now captured international attention, the tragic murder of 29-year-old businessman Raja Raghuwanshi has taken yet another shocking turn — this time involving his own sister.
Already rocked by the arrest of his wife Sonam Raghuwanshi and her alleged lover in what authorities are calling a “contract killing,” the investigation has now expanded to Raja’s younger sister, Srishti Raghuwanshi, a popular content creator on social media.
According to officials in Assam, Srishti is now facing serious criminal charges after posting a controversial video in which she alleged her brother’s death was not merely a murder, but a “ritualistic human sacrifice” linked to black magic in the northeastern state of Assam. The post has triggered not only public outrage but also legal repercussions that threaten to derail her career — and possibly her freedom.
From Grieving Sister to Legal Accused
Srishti, who rose to popularity with lifestyle content and family vlogs, had been actively documenting her brother’s disappearance and death on her platforms. After Raja’s body was discovered in a remote ravine in Meghalaya on June 2 — ten days after he vanished during a honeymoon trip with his wife — Srishti posted heartfelt appeals for justice.
But one particular post, shared in late June, stunned many and angered more. In the emotional video, Srishti claimed that Raja’s murder was tied to an occult sacrifice, pointing fingers at her sister-in-law Sonam and implicating cultural rituals associated with Assam.
She alleged that Sonam lured Raja to Guwahati under the pretense of a honeymoon, only to carry out a “tantric killing” — a claim that Assam Police immediately deemed inflammatory and baseless.
The video quickly went viral, gathering millions of views and sparking backlash. Assam residents and community leaders denounced the video as an attack on their cultural and religious identity. Protests broke out in parts of Guwahati, and social media platforms were flooded with calls for legal action.
In response, Assam Police have now filed a case against Srishti under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups) and Section 295A (deliberate acts intended to outrage religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code — charges that could carry prison terms and, in the worst-case scenario, be extended to criminal conspiracy under ongoing investigations.
What Sparked the Case?
The controversy began innocently enough. Raja and Sonam, newlyweds at the time, had traveled to Meghalaya in May 2025 for their honeymoon. On May 23, both checked out of their hotel in Sohra — and then vanished. It wasn’t until June 2 that Raja’s mutilated body was discovered in a gorge.
The investigation, dubbed “Operation Honeymoon,” revealed damning evidence. Authorities arrested Sonam in Uttar Pradesh and uncovered her long-standing affair with Raj Kushwaha. Police say Sonam orchestrated her husband’s murder, enlisting Raj and a group of hired killers.
Digital evidence — including chats, voice notes, and a chilling video of the suspects allegedly planning the murder — bolstered the police’s case. A blood-stained knife, Raja’s missing phone, and even a pistol believed to be the backup weapon were recovered. So far, eight people have been arrested in the case, including real estate agents suspected of destroying evidence.
But it was Srishti’s post-mortem commentary that stirred even more public drama.
In her viral video, Srishti described the murder as “not just a crime of passion, but something more sinister.” She directly accused Sonam of using black magic, claiming that Raja was “sacrificed” in a dark ritual.
Police and Public Response
Assam Police reacted swiftly. They stated that the content was “provocative and unfounded,” and said it had “the potential to incite regional and religious tensions.”
Srishti later issued a public apology, saying she had posted the video in a state of “grief and emotional trauma.” She insisted she never intended to offend any community, and her allegations were born out of frustration with the slow pace of the investigation.
Her brother, Vipin Raghuwanshi, backed her statement, saying, “Srishti is a content creator who reacted as a grieving sibling. The post was not an attack on any religion or culture, but a desperate call for justice.”
Still, Assam authorities have made it clear that an apology does not negate the seriousness of the offense. Srishti has been summoned to Guwahati for questioning, and legal proceedings are underway.
A Crime That’s Turned into a National Spectacle
The Raghuwanshi murder case has quickly snowballed from a local crime story into a national — even international — drama, blending elements of betrayal, violence, superstition, and now, legal fallout over misinformation.
Raja’s brother, Vipin, has gone so far as to allege that Sonam remarried Raj Kushwaha shortly after Raja’s death. He has requested a narco test for several individuals, including Sonam’s brother Govind, claiming a broader conspiracy that could involve the victim’s in-laws.
Meanwhile, police in Meghalaya continue to build a case, bolstered by forensic evidence and digital trails. Two of the suspects have attempted to retract their confessions, but authorities say they have enough physical and circumstantial evidence to proceed.
Larger Implications
The case has not only reopened conversations about domestic violence and honor killings but has also sparked a serious debate on the role of social media in ongoing investigations.
“This is a textbook example of how one emotionally charged post can ignite regional tension,” said a senior police official from Assam. “We live in an era where one person’s grief, if misdirected, can have consequences beyond the personal.”
Experts say that the case — and the charges against Srishti — may set a precedent for how authorities handle viral misinformation related to ongoing criminal investigations.
As of now, the trial dates remain unclear, and Srishti’s legal team is expected to seek anticipatory bail. Meanwhile, Raja’s family says they will not stop until “every truth, every hidden name, and every shadow involved” in his death is brought to light.
But with so many emotional, cultural, and legal threads tangled together, the road to justice may be longer — and more volatile — than anyone could have imagined.
