Agra – A shocking incident unfolded at the Taj Mahal parking area when a senior citizen was found tied up inside a locked car under the scorching sun. Mohammad Aslam, a local tourist guide who was among the first responders, recounted the dramatic rescue. “Some hawkers who sell goods nearby alerted us that there was an elderly man lying in a car, tied up, and the windows were all closed. The family, tourists from Maharashtra, had left him inside the car with his hands bound, while they went to visit the Taj Mahal,” Aslam said.

Upon learning about the situation, Aslam and others sprinted to the parking lot. Realizing the gravity of the situation, they broke the car’s window to provide water and air to the distressed man. “We broke the window with our hands—one of us even suffered injuries. Then we untied him, and managed to pull him out of the car. With the help of tourism police and an ambulance, we quickly sent him to the hospital. If we had been just a few minutes late, he might not have survived. The heat inside the car was unbearable, and he was struggling to breathe,” Aslam added.

Videos from the scene show the chaotic rescue efforts as bystanders worked to unlock the vehicle, ultimately pulling the elderly man out safely and calling for urgent medical attention.

The incident has raised serious questions about the safety and care of elderly tourists, as well as about the actions of the family involved. Authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into the matter.

Local witnesses emphasized that it was only due to timely intervention that a potential tragedy was averted. “With the windows locked and the blazing heat, he could have died in another 10 or 15 minutes,” said Aslam.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and statements from witnesses as they continue to probe how and why the man was left in such a dangerous situation.
