According to a post from the account impersonating her, she had allegedly been rescued from the dark world of sex trafficking on Delhi’s infamous GB Road. The post claimed she had paid ₹25 lakh to escape and had helped rescue eight other girls from similar conditions. A quote from the post read: “Your past does not define your journey. After being trapped in prostitution for six years, I broke the chains and bought my freedom for ₹25 lakh.”

This story, shocking and dramatic, was picked up by several media outlets and widely shared across social platforms. However, as the story unfolded, the truth turned out to be far more disturbing—and entirely different.

A Lie Built on Revenge

Authorities have now revealed that the entire narrative was fake. The person behind the false Instagram account was Pratim Bora, a mechanical engineer from Assam. His motive? Revenge against his ex-girlfriend—Archita Phukan.

According to the police, Pratim created a fake Instagram account using Archita’s name and likeness. Using AI-generated explicit images, he uploaded obscene content and crafted a fabricated life story to deceive the public. He manipulated her real photos, created altered and vulgar versions using artificial intelligence, and posted them to build a believable but false persona. The account even monetized the traffic it received, earning revenue from the deceit.

The situation escalated when Archita’s brother came across these offensive images and immediately reported the matter to the police. Authorities traced the IP address of the Instagram account and located Pratim Bora. He was arrested shortly thereafter.

During interrogation, Pratim admitted that he carried out the entire hoax to defame and emotionally damage Archita, his ex-girlfriend. He confessed that his actions were purely driven by vengeance.

Personal Lives in Shambles

In response, the Supreme Court of India directed law enforcement agencies to treat such crimes with the utmost seriousness, emphasizing strict punishment for perpetrators.
