Clash in Haridwar: Kawariyas Vandalize Car After Minor Accident

A group of Kawariyas (devotees participating in the annual Kanwar Yatra) caused chaos in the Bahadrabad area of Haridwar after a minor collision with a car. The incident escalated quickly when the Kawariyas became enraged and began pelting stones at the vehicle. The driver was assaulted, and the car was severely damaged with sticks and rods.

The car owner, Mukesh, managed to escape the scene and sought help at the local police station, where he filed a complaint. Police promptly arrived at the location and attempted to calm the agitated Kawariyas. However, the devotees argued with the officers and initially refused to cooperate.

Eventually, the police detained three of the Kawariyas involved in the vandalism and brought them to the station, where a case was registered against them. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the accused soon apologized for their actions.

One of the Kawariyas explained, “We were carrying the Kanwar near Crystal World when our Kanwar was slightly damaged by a minor collision with a car. In anger, some of us vandalized the car. We sincerely apologize for our actions.”

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about public safety and law enforcement during large religious gatherings.
