Famous Rapper Vedan Booked for Rape on Pretense of Marriage; Industry in Shock

Police have registered a case of rape against popular rapper Vedan, sending shockwaves through the film industry. The case was filed after a victim, a doctor by profession, accused the rapper of sexually exploiting her between August 2021 and March 2023 under the false promise of marriage. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police have launched an investigation.

This is not Vedan’s first brush with the law. Just two months ago, on April 29, he was arrested on drug-related charges. During a raid at his flat, authorities seized 6 grams of marijuana and ₹9 lakh in cash. After his arrest, Vedan was released on bail but was promptly arrested again when a leopard tooth was found in his possession. The forest department handled the second case, and again he was released on bail.

The rapper’s legal troubles continued in May when a BJP leader filed a complaint against him, alleging that Vedan had defamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and promoted casteism through his music.

Vedan initially rose to fame with his 2019 album “Voice of the Voiceless,” noted for highlighting caste structures and social contradictions. He has also performed songs in several films.

Following his earlier arrests, Vedan admitted to drug use during police interrogation. With the latest rape charge now under investigation, Vedan finds himself at the center of multiple legal controversies, putting his career and reputation at risk.

The police have registered an FIR regarding the rape allegations and begun further inquiry into the case.
