A chilling incident from Ahmedabad has shocked the entire nation. Around 1:30 PM on June 12th, an Air India flight bound for London crashed shortly after takeoff. The aircraft, identified as a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, lost control and fell onto a residential area, specifically a medical hostel, causing significant damage on the ground as well.

The ill-fated plane was carrying about 242 passengers, including two pilots and ten Air India crew members. Among the passengers was former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who served twice as chief minister and once as a Rajya Sabha member. According to unofficial sources, he too perished in the crash.

The tragedy has raised several critical questions: Was Air India aware of any faults in the aircraft? Was a thorough security and maintenance check conducted before the flight, as is standard procedure? Did the captain personally inspect the aircraft before takeoff?

These questions have gained urgency following a tweet from Akash Vats, who traveled on the same aircraft from Delhi to Ahmedabad just two hours before the crash. He reported unusual issues to the cabin crew and shared a video showing that the inflight entertainment systems were not functioning on several seats, indicating possible electronic failures. In his tweet, Akash Vats tagged Air India, Boeing, and several media personalities, urging them to investigate.

The video clearly shows the touchscreen systems were either off or unresponsive. Such electronic failures in an aircraft are a serious safety concern. If these issues were reported to the crew, why was the plane allowed to fly to London without proper repairs, especially with a VVIP passenger onboard?

Following the crash, another Twitter user, Vikram, called for a full investigation into Air India. He reported that the death toll had risen to 170, with bodies still being recovered from the wreckage. The visuals from the crash site were described as extremely disturbing, with burnt and scattered bodies throughout the area. Survivors are being rushed to hospitals for treatment.

Vikram also suggested that the passports of Air India officials should be seized to prevent them from fleeing the country, citing past instances of financial fraudsters escaping abroad. He argued that such a large-scale tragedy demands strict action against the responsible company and its leadership.

In 2023, Air India was acquired by the Tata Group. Previously a government-owned entity, Air India had originally been founded by Tata and returned to their management after privatization. Tata Sons now oversee the airline’s operations and profits, making their top leadership accountable for this disaster and warranting strict action.

The official death toll stands at around 170 and may rise as rescue operations continue. We will keep you updated with further developments on this story.
