Television actors Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma, who recently claimed to have lost their life savings in a scam, have now found themselves in serious legal trouble. The couple has been arrested after a case was filed against them for kidnapping and extortion, following allegations made by the wife of a Bengali film producer.

According to reports, Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma have been accused of kidnapping Bengali film producer Shams Sunundar in Goa and extorting money from him. The allegations were made public by the producer’s wife, Malabika, who posted a detailed statement on Facebook. In her post, she accused the couple of using threats and pressure to extract money and gain control over the producer’s properties.

Malabika supported her claims by sharing WhatsApp chats, payment receipts, and official FIR documents as evidence. She wrote, “My husband was kidnapped, held against his will, threatened, and physically assaulted by Puja Banerjee and their powerful associate Push Kotari as part of an extortion plan. They mentally tortured him in Goa and demanded 6.4 million rupees. When we refused, they threatened to falsely frame him in a drug case. Out of fear, my husband ended up paying 2.3 million rupees.”

She further revealed that she had saved all transaction proofs showing the money transfers to Puja and Kunal’s accounts. Malabika also stated that her husband was forced to make several video statements under pressure, saying exactly what he was told to say.

Ironically, just last week, Kunal Verma and Puja Banerjee had gone public about being victims of a scam themselves. Puja shared on social media, “These last two or three months have been very difficult. We lost all our life savings in a scam. We don’t know what’s going to happen next. We are starting from zero, but we won’t give up.”

With these shocking allegations and their subsequent arrest, the case has taken a dramatic and unexpected turn, leaving fans and the industry in disbelief.
