While the exact reason for the closure remains unclear, speculation is rife that it is linked to the ongoing ₹60 crore fraud case. The case was filed by Mumbai-based businessman Deepak Kotari, who alleged that he was duped of ₹60.4 crores by Shetty and Kundra. According to reports, the alleged fraud is connected to a loan-cum-investment scheme, with claims that the funds were misappropriated for personal expenses between 2015 and 2023.

However, as reported by The Hindu, the couple’s lawyer has dismissed the allegations, calling the case “baseless and malicious,” and stating that it is an attempt to malign his clients.
