Lawyer Shot Dead in Patna City, Locals Protest and Demand Justice

As soon as news of the incident broke, a large police contingent rushed to the scene and began their investigation. The forensic team collected several pieces of evidence from the spot, including three empty bullet casings. Police are now also reviewing nearby CCTV footage to identify the culprits.

According to reports, the victim, lawyer Jitendra, had gone for a walk outside his house after dinner when two assailants on a motorcycle shot him and fled the scene. The shocking daylight murder in the Patna City area has left residents in a state of fear.

“There is an atmosphere of terror not just in Patna, but across Bihar,” said a local resident. “People used to talk about ‘jungle raj’—I don’t know what kind of jungle this is now. The Sultan Ganj police station is just 300 meters away. This is a posh area in Mahendru, yet three shots were fired here in broad daylight. Two people arrived, shot him, and escaped. Who is safe? Neither ordinary citizens nor businessmen nor lawyers—no one is safe.”

In the evening, the lawyer’s family and supporters staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. Locals accused the police of negligence, claiming that a lack of effective law enforcement has emboldened criminals.

The incident has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over public safety in the region, with citizens calling for urgent action from authorities.
