Young Man Brutally Murdered While Trying to Raise Money for His Hospitalized Mother’s Treatment in Moradabad

A heartbreaking incident has emerged from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, where an 18-year-old youth was mercilessly beaten to death as he tried to gather funds for his ailing mother’s treatment. The victim, Dev Thakur, worked at a canteen at Haridwar railway station and returned to Moradabad in a desperate attempt to collect money for his mother, who is admitted at AIIMS Rishikesh. On Friday night, he went to his ancestral home in the Holika Maidan area under Katghar Police Station, planning to sell the property to cover his mother’s medical expenses.

An argument broke out with his uncle Munmun over the proposed sale. Meanwhile, BJP councillor Kuldeep Narayan’s brother, Hariom Singh, and nephew, Monu, both neighbors, got involved in the dispute. The confrontation escalated rapidly, and the accused allegedly attacked Dev with iron rods and sticks. Despite Dev’s attempt to flee, he was chased, dragged onto the street, and brutally assaulted, suffering repeated blows to his chest. Dev collapsed from his grave injuries and was beaten until he died. The attackers then fled the scene.

Dev’s uncle, Shyam Singh, revealed that Dev’s father and brother had both passed away earlier, and this latest tragedy had devastated the family completely. He alleged that the attackers, who are relatives of the local BJP councillor, were trying to seize the family property and had previously harassed them.

The murder has sent shockwaves throughout the area. Police arrived at the scene, sent Dev’s body for a post-mortem, and registered a murder case based on Shyam Singh’s complaint. Three police teams have been formed to track down the suspects, and several individuals have been detained for questioning. Authorities have assured that the main accused will be arrested soon.
