Controversy Erupts Over Vulgar Statement by JDU MLA Gopal Mandal Targeting Own Party’s MP Amid Flood Crisis in Bihar

Gopal Mandal, the JDU (Janata Dal United) MLA from Gopalpur, has once again stirred controversy with his inflammatory remarks—this time targeting his own party’s Member of Parliament, Ajay Mandal, amid worsening flood conditions in Bhagalpur, Bihar. A video of his statements has gone viral, drawing condemnation for not only his criticism of a fellow leader but also his use of disparaging and sexist language.

The situation in Bhagalpur has become dire as the Ganga River’s water level rises, swallowing up villages and prompting major concerns over slow or inadequate government response. When Gopal Mandal visited the affected areas to meet with displaced families, he lashed out at local administration and his party’s MP, alleging negligence.

In a shocking outburst, Gopal Mandal accused MP Ajay Mandal of neglecting the region’s urgent needs, even using the name of a woman, Arpana, in derogatory context—falsely alleging inappropriate relationships and blaming the MP’s absence on personal matters. “The MP is always asleep. He just goes to see his mistress Arpana’s banner, not the flood victims,” Mandal said publicly. He further accused Ajay Mandal of failing to raise the flood crisis in parliament, and blamed him for the overall neglect of Bhagalpur’s problems.

Mandal didn’t spare the state’s water resources department either, calling out their inefficiency and alleging widespread corruption in the handling of flood control measures. He explained that necessary preventive work should have been done well before the river rose, not after, and described the department’s actions as motivated by profit rather than public welfare.

Despite his harsh rhetoric, Mandal promised help for all flood victims, assuring them of food, temporary shelter, and compensation. He vowed to fight for new housing for those whose homes have been washed away and pressed officials to provide immediate and adequate relief.

However, Gopal Mandal’s fiery remarks, especially those with sexist overtones and directed at a fellow party leader, have drawn strong criticism across political lines and from the public. Many are calling for disciplinary action, while others see his comments as reflecting deep frustration with the government’s handling of Bihar’s flood crisis.

As the state continues to struggle with the devastating effects of floods, the focus is now not only on relief measures but also on the conduct of public representatives—raising questions about accountability and decorum in political discourse.
