The incident took place on Sardar Pura B Road, at a popular clothing shop named Bandhani. According to reports, the woman bought a dress priced at ₹695 for her daughter in anticipation of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations. Upon returning home, she discovered that the dress was defective and did not fit her daughter properly.

The woman recounted her ordeal in a widely shared video: “On August 4th, I purchased this dress from Bandhani. When I informed the shop that the dress was too loose for my child, they initially tried to fix it by fastening it with a clip, claiming it could be altered later. The tailor at their shop altered it, assuring me it wouldn’t get damaged. But after alteration, the fitting was still not right and the neckline was uneven. Despite several visits and requests, the shopkeeper refused to replace the dress or refund my money.”

Frustrated after multiple attempts, the woman returned to the shop, threw the dress in front of the store, set it on fire, and filmed the scene. The video, in which she details her experience and shows the dress’s tag, quickly went viral, provoking reactions online.

She said, “I called the shop after finding out the alteration was not done properly, and they told me to bring it back. Even after showing it at the trial room in front of their tailor, the fitting was still not right. They still refused to change the dress, so I decided to burn it right here.”

The sensational act has drawn widespread attention to consumer rights and customer service issues in local markets. Many viewers online sympathized with the woman, emphasizing the importance of accountability and proper after-sales service in the retail industry.

As the video continues to circulate, it serves as a reminder for businesses to handle customer complaints with transparency and care, and for consumers to know their rights.
