A tragic incident in Lucknow has left an entire community in shock after a man, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, brutally murdered his wife’s parents. Years of Abuse

The victim’s daughter, herself a school teacher, recounted the harrowing details of her marriage, which had lasted ten years. She described a decade marked by her husband’s alcoholism, violent outbursts, and repeated physical abuse not only towards her but also his own mother. Despite the constant fear and violence, she never reported him to the police, hoping that her silence would eventually bring peace. However, things only escalated over time.

“My children are growing up. One is three, the other is eight. I was always afraid that if something terrible happened, who would look after them?” she said, her voice trembling.

The Breaking Point

In April, things became unbearable. After yet another violent episode, she decided to leave her husband and took her children with her to her parents’ home. Even then, the fear was so overwhelming that she could not bring herself to file a police complaint in person. Instead, she sent a written complaint to the Women’s Commission by post and left for Jammu with her children to escape the trauma.

Despite her efforts to protect herself and her children, the husband continued to harass her family. Mediation sessions were initiated as per legal process, but the situation failed to improve. “He would apologize, things would be normal for a few weeks, and then the violence would start again. I knew this time it wasn’t real; he just wanted me back at any cost,” she said.

The Night of the Murder

The tragedy unfolded when the husband came to visit his children under the pretense of giving them toys and books. The woman, sensing he was drunk, refused to let him meet the children that day. However, he insisted and managed to enter the house. What followed was a horrific sequence of events.

“He sat on a chair, took my child in his lap, and after a few minutes, took out a knife from his bag and attacked my father. My mother tried to intervene but was also attacked. I tried to hold his hand, but he wouldn’t stop. He killed them both right before my eyes,” she recounted, breaking down.

Community in Shock

Neighbors and relatives described the chaos that ensued. Hearing the screams, they rushed to the scene, only to witness the aftermath of the brutal attack. Bloodstains on the walls and floor bore silent testimony to the violence that had unfolded.

One neighbor, who lives on the upper floor, recalled, “We heard screaming and rushed downstairs. By the time we got there, both the uncle and aunt were already gravely injured. He threatened us with the knife before fleeing.”

Aftermath

The accused was apprehended by the police soon after. The incident has not only devastated the family but also left the entire neighborhood shaken. The woman, now widowed and orphaned in one night, is left to care for her young children alone.
