BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy Calls Fellow MP Nishikant Dubey “Arrogant” Amid Constitution Club Election Row

In a recent interview with News Laundry, BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy launched a scathing attack on his party colleague Nishikant Dubey, calling him “arrogant” and claiming that Dubey acts as if he is the government inside Parliament. Rudy stated, “Nishikant Dubey considers himself the government here, but I am not a part of his government. I am independent.”

The remarks came during a video interview focused on the Delhi Constitution Club elections, where Rudy was asked about the unusual level of activity and crowd at the club. Rudy explained, “Have you ever seen such crowds during elections at the Constitution Club in the past 25 years? Earlier, MPs had no say here. The club had become a place for IAS, IPS, pilots, brokers, and businessmen. Now, its dignity has returned.”

Rudy described the enthusiasm among voters, noting that even elderly members, some as old as 90 or 95, came to cast their votes, including Swaraj Kaushal, who was barely able to walk. “They all want change, and Dr. Sanjeev Balyan will bring that change. Everyone is here for Balyan,” Rudy added.

During the interview, Rudy was asked about his own party campaigning against him in the elections and whether Home Minister Amit Shah had also campaigned against him. Rudy dismissed these claims, saying, “This misinformation was spread by someone who believes he controls Parliament as an MP. He runs shows in Parliament and was the one who brought Amit Shah’s name into this issue.” When asked directly if he was referring to Nishikant Dubey, Rudy responded, “How do you know I’m talking about Dubey? But I think you’re right.”

Rudy continued, “Sometimes people become arrogant. He runs shows in Parliament and claims to do so. He decided that I should not win the Delhi Constitution Club election.” When asked about the root of Dubey’s problem with him, Rudy replied, “That’s his issue. He wants to run the show. He considers himself a government apart from the actual government, and I am not part of his government.”

Rudy clarified that he had full support from Amit Shah and JP Nadda during the club elections, and that the controversy was intentionally created by fielding a candidate against him—an effort he attributed to Nishikant Dubey.

The Constitution Club election gained attention when BJP leader Sanjeev Balyan stood against Rudy, with reports suggesting that Balyan’s candidacy was backed by Amit Shah. On election day, Dubey openly supported Balyan, which led to opposition MPs rallying behind Rudy. Ultimately, Rudy won the election decisively.

This episode has highlighted internal rifts within the BJP and brought the functioning of the Constitution Club into the spotlight, as party leaders clash over influence and control.
