The girl was alone at home, feeling safe in her own space.

The Night of the Crime

Earlier that evening, she had tied a rakhi on her cousin brother’s wrist, wishing him a long life and praying for his well-being. She had performed all her responsibilities as a loving sister; little did she know what awaited her. By midnight, with everyone else gone or asleep, her cousin scaled the wall of her house, intoxicated and determined. Reaching the veranda where she lay asleep, he assaulted her. When she woke and screamed, he silenced her before committing an unspeakable act. Then, to hide his crime, he strangled her, ensuring she could never reveal his betrayal.

Afterwards, he coldly staged the scene to make it look like an accident and fled the house.
