Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Mukesh Sahni Claims Deputy CM Post

Political activity is heating up ahead of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. All parties are gearing up for a tough contest, and discussions within the INDIA alliance over key positions, especially the Chief Minister face, have intensified.

Mukesh Sahni, leader of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), has made a bold claim, announcing that if the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) wins, he will become the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. Sahni made this statement after a marathon meeting at opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav’s residence, where seat-sharing and candidate selection were discussed.

Despite Sahni’s ambitions, reports suggest his party may get only 14 seats in the alliance, raising questions about his influence. Meanwhile, the alliance, led by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD, includes Congress, CPI(M), CPI(ML), Lok Janshakti Party (Paras faction), and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

CPI(M) leader Lallan Chaudhary clarified that Tejashwi Yadav is the consensus Chief Minister candidate for the alliance. Official seat-sharing announcements are expected soon.

In the last assembly election (2020), the NDA won 125 out of 243 seats, with BJP securing 74 and JDU 43. VIP won 4 seats. The Mahagathbandhan won 110 seats, with RJD 75, Congress 19, and Left parties 16.
