Politics Over Fire: How Communal Tensions in Fatehpur Are Being Ignited for Political Gains

In recent days, the district of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh has become the stage for rising communal tensions, raising questions about political motives and the deliberate fanning of discord. Are authorities and political leaders intentionally setting the state on fire, reminiscent of the infamous Ayodhya episode, just to gain a political edge?
The pattern has become all too familiar: social groups, sometimes draped in saffron, sometimes with the banners of another community, marching in the streets, fueling confrontations. The latest unrest began when the local BJP district head called supporters to gather at a disputed religious site, claiming it to be a temple, displaying tridents and lotus symbols, and announcing plans to perform religious rituals there.
The core question the public must ask: Why engineer conflict in the first place? If worship is truly the goal, why not choose a location that doesn’t provoke unrest? Instead, why incite crowds and stoke flames of hatred, pushing young people to risk their futures for political parties?
As tensions mounted, visuals emerged of unruly crowds wielding sticks and running through the streets as police watched silently. Post-incident, officials issued standard statements about being present for security and managing the situation. However, reports indicate the administration was already aware of the planned gathering, yet failed to preemptively defuse the situation.
This spiraling unrest isn’t just political theater—it’s a humanitarian crisis in the making. The flames of divisiveness are fanned for personal gain, but it is ordinary citizens, from both Hindu and Muslim backgrounds, who pay the price. Families who lose loved ones to these planned confrontations rarely receive justice. The instigators vanish, while the grief and trauma remain with victims’ families.
It is essential to remember: neither our gods nor our scriptures call for violence in their name. No faith commands its followers to claim holy places by force or destruction. True worship can happen anywhere, and it is harmony—not chaos—that pleases the divine.
Political parties across the spectrum—BJP, SP, Congress, and others—must ask themselves: What do they gain by pitting communities against each other? With both state and central governments claiming to protect all religions, why do such incidents recur? If the government and administration are truly committed to peace, why is the cycle of provocation and violence allowed to repeat?
Witnesses and survivors, now accustomed to such cycles, urge the public to reject this orchestrated outrage. Instead of fueling the flames, citizens must demand accountability and transparency from those in power. After casting a vote, the citizen’s job should not end—it is their right and duty to question leaders, especially when communal harmony is at stake.
As elections approach, reports suggest that provocations may only increase, with various parties staging events to consolidate their vote banks. But the public must stay alert, not fall for manufactured outrage, and focus on real issues—education, healthcare, employment—that unite rather than divide.
If this cycle continues, it is only the common man who bleeds—while political leaders escape responsibility and move on to the next rally. For true progress and unity, society needs humanity, not hatred.
Let us remember: protecting our nation means protecting each other. Don’t let political firebrands throw thorns on your path. Choose peace, demand justice, and let your voice be a vote for harmony, not for fire.
