Devoleena Bhattacharjee shares unseen pictures with son as he turns 7 months old; says, “You're my greatest journey” | - Times of India

Famed TV actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee—best known as Gopi Bahu—recently introduced her 7-month-old son to her followers for the very first time. What should have been a moment of pure joy instead erupted into controversy as trolls targeted the innocent child with racist and insulting comments on social media.

Devoleena, who married her gym trainer Shahnawaz Shaikh in 2022, had until now kept her child away from the public eye. This week, however, she shared a heartwarming photo of mother and son, captioned with a heartfelt message: “Seven months since I brought my heart out of my body. From wrapping your little fingers around me to sleepless nights full of cuddles, every moment has been magical. You’ve turned my world upside down in the most beautiful way.”

Unfortunately, the trolls soon descended. Shocking and insensitive remarks filled the comments section, mocking the baby’s skin tone and looks. “Whose strange, black child is this?” “Looks South African,” and “Why is he so dark?” were some of the cruel judgments. Some even compared the child’s looks with his father, repeating the harsh reactions Devoleena once faced at the time of her interfaith marriage.

Despite the hate, many fans also came forward to call the baby adorable and criticized the negative comments as unacceptable. Devoleena, meanwhile, remains happy in her family life, unfazed by such negativity.

This incident has once again shone a harsh light on the cruelty of online trolling—particularly when it targets innocent children. Is it ever justified for netizens to body-shame or color-shame a child? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
