Heartbreaking Revelation: Vicky Kaushal’s Father Sham Kaushal Opens Up About His Cancer Battle and Suicidal Thoughts
In a deeply emotional and rare confession, acclaimed Bollywood action director Sham Kaushal—the proud father of actor Vicky Kaushal and father-in-law to superstar Katrina Kaif—has recently shared with fans the hidden pain of his past cancer struggle and the psychological toll it took on him.
While filming the movie “Lakshya” in the rugged terrains of Ladakh, Sham Kaushal was suddenly struck by excruciating stomach pain and was hurried to an army hospital. At first, he assumed it was just another illness and bravely returned to set. But soon, the people around him grew more anxious, hinting at a graver reality.
The shocking diagnosis came after emergency surgery: cancer. In those moments, doctors delivered a devastating prognosis, telling him his chances of survival were slim. The news shattered him. As Sham Kaushal recounted, the fear, pain, and sense of resignation brought him so close to the edge that he contemplated ending his own life—considering jumping from his hospital’s third floor. “It wasn’t out of fear,” he said, “but I thought, if I’m going to die anyway, why not now?” Only his immobilizing pain held him back.
